Mattel Mindflex Game - Surprise Yourself With The Power Of Your Own
Mind !
The Mattel Mindflex game will be a popular toy over the Christmas period. It
combines a unique way to involve the player that is sure to intrigue and keep them coming back for more.
The basic idea behind the game is to move a foam ball around an obstacle course. This might seem pretty straight
forward but the twist comes because you can only use the power of your mind. It sounds like something you might see
in a science fiction movie but the reality is that it is possible to move the ball through hoops and other
obstacles using your brain waves to manipulate a jet of air. This is sure to fascinate children and, to be honest,
will attract adults too.
Mindflex is an obstacle course. The obstacle course can be altered however you want it by adding new obstacles,
taking them away or changing the configuration of the obstacles. Obstacles include various types of tubes,
barriers, hurdles, funnels, and a teeter-totter that the foam ball must be navigated through, over or around.
You perform this navigation using a combination of a hand console that controls the jet of air and the headset
that controls the direction that the air blows. Obviously the headset is the most intriguing part of the game and
the manufacturer does not reveal how the system works. What it does say is that you attach a headset that goes
round the temple region of the head and some clips that attach to your earlobes. These devices read your
brainwaves. As a player learns to alternately focus and relax their mind, the ball will respond by rising and
falling. As the player becomes more adept at these mental states the balls direction can be manipulated and it can
be moved around the course. It has to be seen to be believed. What's more it has to be tried out to really
understand the how the system works and what you need to do (or think) to make the ball respond.
Out of the box, the Mindflex game comes with 5 challenging obstacle courses. You can also set difficulty levels.
The game can be played by an individual or by a group of people. In both cases the idea is to set the best time.
The person with the best time or sequence of times is the winner.
Again, if you get bored with the 5 obstacle courses you can configure the course to your own idea of a suitable
mental challenge.
